A.1 Who this is for
- Wedly users — access, correction, erasure, portability, nomination, or consent-withdrawal requests about your own account or biodata.
- Anyone whose biodata a Wedly Household has stored in Inbox ("Received Profile Subjects"), even if you have never used Wedly.
- Anyone raising a complaint about how we, or a Wedly Household, has handled personal data.
A.2 Request types (form field: request_type)
A.3 Standard form fields
- Request type (above)
- Full name
- Relationship to the data (self / parent or guardian of a minor account holder / nominee / not a user)
- Contact email and/or phone (used for verification)
- Description of the request
- For
erasure/not_a_user_received_profile: any identifying detail that will help us locate the record — phone number or email appearing in the biodata, approximate date/sender, or an attached copy of the biodata file (optional but speeds up matching) - Acknowledgement checkbox: "I confirm the information above is accurate and this request is being made by me, or with proper authority on behalf of the person named."
A.4 "I am not a Wedly user" pathway — what happens next
A family may be using Wedly's private Inbox tool to store biodata they received during a marriage search — including yours. This is not a public listing; only that family can see it. You can ask us to remove it.
What we'll do:
- We'll acknowledge your request within 48 hours.
- We'll verify it's really you — usually by sending a one-time code to a phone number or email that appears in the biodata (see below if that's not possible).
- Once verified, we delete your biodata — the file, extracted details, and any notes or shares of it — from every family that has it, within 30 days, and from backups within a further 30 days.
- We'll let the family know a record was removed at the person's request, without telling them who asked.
- We'll keep a scrambled (non-readable) record of the contact detail we verified, so the same biodata isn't added again. You can ask us to remove this safeguard at any time — see A.5.
If we can't find a phone or email match: we may ask you to send a government photo ID with all details except your name, date of birth, and photo covered, so a human reviewer can confirm the match. We delete this ID immediately after the review.
Impersonating another person to request deletion of their data is a violation of our Acceptable Use Policy and applicable law.
A.5 Lifting a suppression record
If you previously asked us to delete your biodata and later want to allow families to store your biodata again (for example, if you're now the one sharing it through Wedly), contact hello@wedly.me and we will remove the suppression record.
A.6 Response timelines shown to requesters
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.
