Acceptable use
How biodata on Wedly may be created and shared.
Rules for creating, storing, and sharing biodata on Wedly — including Inbox and Received Profiles.
Overview
Effective date: 28 September 2026
Last updated: 28 September 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service. It applies to everyone who uses the Service, including Account Holders, Household Members, and anyone accessing a shared biodata via a link.
1. General principle
Wedly exists to help families privately manage a marriage-biodata search. You may not use the Service, or any content available through it (including your own biodata, another Household Member's contributions, or a Received Profile in Inbox), in a way that harms, harasses, deceives, or violates the rights of any person, or that turns Wedly into something it is not designed to be — a public directory, a matching engine, a data-broker service, or a surveillance tool.
2. You must not
2.1 Misuse of biodata (yours, another user's, or a third party's)
- Upload, store, or share biodata describing anyone under 18.
- Upload biodata you do not have the right or authority to upload.
- Publish, screenshot, forward, print, or otherwise distribute a biodata — your own, another Household Member's, or a Received Profile — outside the sharing tools Wedly provides.
- Create a public or open-access link to any biodata, including a Received Profile.
- Use a Received Profile, or any content in Inbox, for anything other than your own family's evaluation of that person for marriage. This includes a prohibition on using it for matchmaking-as-a-business, brokerage, journalism, research, or any commercial purpose, unless you hold a separate written agreement with Wedly for that use.
- Retain a Received Profile after the person it describes, or the family that sent it to you, has asked you to delete it, or after Wedly has notified you that it has been deleted following a verified request.
2.2 Ranking, scoring, and automated processing
- Attempt to rank, score, or generate a "match percentage" for any candidate, whether your own tooling or a request to Wedly to build such a feature into your account.
- Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to extract data from the Service, including your own Household's data, at a scale or method inconsistent with normal use.
- Attempt to re-identify, cross-reference, or de-anonymise any anonymised or aggregated data Wedly provides.
2.3 Platform integrity
- Attempt to access another Household's account, biodata, or Inbox without authorisation.
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with access controls, rate limits, encryption, watermarking, or expiry mechanisms on shared links or Share Grants.
- Use the inbound-email capture address (
inbox+{token}@wedly.me) for anything other than forwarding biodata you genuinely received for your own family's search; do not use it to relay spam, unrelated correspondence, or another person's private communications unrelated to a marriage search. - Introduce malware, attempt unauthorised access, or probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without our prior written authorisation.
2.4 Impersonation and misrepresentation
- Impersonate any person, including creating a biodata page purporting to be someone else without their knowledge and authorisation (other than a parent/guardian or close relative acting on behalf of a candidate with that person's knowledge, consistent with our Terms).
- Submit a false rights or deletion request, including falsely claiming to be the subject of a Received Profile.
- Provide false or materially misleading information in any biodata.
2.5 Harassment and unlawful conduct
- Use information obtained through Wedly (including a Received Profile) to harass, stalk, threaten, defame, discriminate against, or otherwise harm any person.
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law, including but not limited to the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and applicable criminal law.
- Use the Service to facilitate dowry solicitation or any other conduct prohibited under the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, or other applicable law.
2.6 Commercial and bureau use
- Use a standard Household account for matchmaking-bureau, broker, or commercial matching purposes. Bureau/business use requires a separate agreement with Wedly and is not covered by a standard Household Inbox.
3. Enforcement
We may, at our discretion and without prior notice where urgency requires:
- Remove or restrict access to specific content (a biodata page, a Received Profile, a Share Grant).
- Suspend or terminate an account or Household.
- Report unlawful conduct to the appropriate authorities.
- Take any action required to comply with a verified deletion request from the subject of a Received Profile, regardless of the Household's preference.
We will generally give notice and an opportunity to respond before permanent account termination, except where we reasonably believe urgent action is needed to prevent harm or comply with law.
4. Reporting a violation
If you believe someone has violated this AUP — including improper use of your own biodata, or biodata describing you that a family has stored without a proper basis — contact us at hello@wedly.me or use the Rights Request & Grievance Intake process. We investigate all reports and will take appropriate action.
